The Coconut Shell Faces and Copper Animals.
José Luis and his family live and work in the Sierra of Guerrero. They have nahuatl roots.
Using coconut shells and many different seeds, they make colorful painted faces representing fruits and vegetables, animals, children, suns, moons and eclipses. Their works are handmade one by one. They use acrylics to paint them and a lacquer to protect them.
You can use them outside the house but it is better under a roof to protect them from the sun and rain.
For the nahuas the sun represents healing power and the moon represents wisdom. That´s why they make many eclipses and they recommend us to put them somewhere in the house.
They also work with cooper and make original insects, animal masks, jaguar faces, skeletons for the Day of the Death and some other fantastic creatures.

The cooper works can be naturally oxidized in green color or painted with colorful oil paints.
Since 1995 Nidart has exhibit and sell their works in our gallery and we really recommend Jose Luis craftwork for its high quality and beauty.
